Drivers in Wellington urged to be careful following torrential rain and several crashes

1 min read

Motorists  are urged to be careful on the roads around the Wellington region today due to torrential rain and flooding.  SH1 Northbound lane near Churton Park has surface flooding and there has been a minor crash at Whitby.

There is also a report of a car which has spun out on SH2 100 metres south-bound from the Haywards Hill intersection.  Emergency services are on their way to the scene at present.

Diversions are still in place at Paekakariki following a head-on collision earlier this morning.

Drivers will need to slow down and drive to the wet weather conditions, watch their following distances, and be aware of others around them.
