Egmont National Park deceased climber named

Police can now confirm the name of the climber who died following a fall near the summit of Mt Taranaki in Egmont National Park yesterday.

The deceased is 25-year-old Victor Roucher of France. He had been in New Zealand for six months.

He was climbing with another Frenchman, who is now back in Wellington.

Police would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Mr Roucher.

Police continue to liaise with the Embassy of France over the incident.
