One person has died following a crash involving a car and a logging truck on State Highway 35 north of Gisborne.
Police were called to the scene near Sirrah Street 7.50am.
The person who died was driving the car.
The front seat passenger of the car has been taken to Gisborne Hospital as a precaution.
The road remains closed and Police would like to thank motorists for their patience.
The Serious Crash Unit and Commercial Vehicle Safety Team are investigating.
