Police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash north of Pakaraka in Northland early this morning.
At 2am a vehicle heading south on State Highway 10 has collided with a truck, which was transporting a house, about 1km north of Pakaraka.
The 52-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle died at the scene. The driver and passengers in the transporter truck were shaken but unhurt.
Police closed the road until 4.15am while they cleared the road and carried out their initial investigation of the crash.
Northland Road Policing Manager Wayne Ewers said police have yet to determine the cause of the crash and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
The name of the deceased man will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
