Fatal fleeing driver incident, Cambridge

At approximately 6:45pm Police attempted to pull over a vehicle in Cambridge after receiving a driving complaint.

The driver failed to stop and a brief pursuit was initiated. A short time later, the fleeing vehicle crashed on Scott Street near the intersection with Moore Street.

One occupant of the vehicle has died at the scene. A person with critical injuries and another with moderate injuries, have been transported to Waikato Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle has minor injuries and is currently speaking with Police.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance and the road will be closed while they investigate.

The IPCA will be notified of the pursuit.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, we thank them in advance for their patience.
