1 min read

Manawatu Police have arrested five offenders for the aggravated robbery of Winchester Street Dairy on Saturday 15 July, 2017.

Detective Sergeant Philip Skoglund of Manawatu CIB says four of the offenders were youths, driven to the scene by an adult offender.

"Three of the youths robbed the dairy and threatened staff with a firearm, while the forth was a look-out for them," he says.

"The fifth offender is an adult and she was the driver of the car used to flee the scene."

The offenders stole over $5,000 worth of tobacco and cigarettes from the store.

"Police will not tolerate any threats of this nature towards members of our community," says Detective Sergeant Skoglund.

"Based on the continuous information provided to us by the public, neither will our local residents.

"These arrests are significant for providing reassurance to the victims and preventing further serious incidents of this nature."

The youths were aged 15 and 16 years old and two were aged 14. They will appear in the Levin Youth Court on Tuesday 12 September, 2017.

The adult offender is a 42-year-old woman and is appearing in Levin Court on the same day.

The staff members of the store are receiving ongoing support.
