Historical remains found at Gulf Harbour development site

At around 7pm last night, Police were called to a development site at The Anchorage, Gulf Harbour after three archaeologists who were working on the site excavated a skeleton. The site has previously been identified as having historical significance.

 

The site was closed down over-night and local iwi have been advised.

 

CIB are in attendance however at this stage the remains are estimated to be over 100 years old.

 

Police are now in consultation with local iwi and several other parties to determine the next course of events.
