Attribute to Detective Sergeant Philip Skoglund

Police have launched a homicide inquiry following the death of a 78-year-old man in South Taranaki.

Emergency services were called to an address in Normanby at around 7pm.

The 78-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound but died at the scene.

A 68-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder.

He is due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court today.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
