Ilam homicide, man charged

Attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Anderson

A 52-year-old man has been charged with murder following last night’s stabbing on Ilam Road.

He has also been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He remains in Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Police can now confirm the age of the women who died, she was 28-years-old.

Another man, a 31-year-old, remains in Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Although the investigation is still in its early days those involved were known to each other and Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

Ilam Road will remain cordoned off and Police will have a visible presence in the area over the coming days as enquiries continue.
