1 min read

Tokoroa Police want to identify a man suspected of a sexual assault on a young woman on Sunday afternoon (27 July) between 5pm and 6pm at Lake Moananui, Arawa Crescent, Tokoroa.

The 17-year-old victim spoke to a woman driving from the Cosmopolitan club asking her what the time was. The victim then walked to the public toilets nearby and a short time later walked along the footpath next to the car park to the playgrounds.

She has told police that while she was sitting on the bottom of the slide at the playground an unknown man wearing a black hoodie attacked her. She fought him off and he got into a black car.

Police want to locate the female driver of the green Holden who spoke with the victim and who may have information that will assist the investigation. They are also appealing for help from the public in identifying the person responsible for the attack. Fortunately the woman was not physically injured.

Anyone who has information is urged to contact Constable King at Tokoroa Police on 07 885 0100. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
