About 7.15 pm on Saturday the 17th of October, Police were called to an altercation on Dee Street, Invercargill.
A 28 year old man was taken to Invercargill hospital and has subsequently died of his injuries.
A homicide Investigation has been commenced.
Witness are being spoken to and the immediate scene has been cordoned off.
No further information will be released this evening.
