Invercargill Police seek information on burglaries

1 min read

Southern District Police are reminding people to ensure their properties are locked after a number of burglaries in the area overnight on Friday.

Two rural properties near Invercargill were entered overnight, and a number of firearms and farm tools were taken.

"We need to remind people to be diligent and ensure everything is locked and secure, including all sheds and outbuildings.  Dark and windy nights can conceal an offender’s movements, so it is beneficial for people to install security lighting and keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour or people who look out of place," says Sergeant Phill Hamlin, Southern District Command Centre.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information about people trying to sell farm equipment or firearms in the region, or anyone who saw or heard suspicious vehicles in and around Invercargill properties overnight on Friday.  If you have information you think might be relevant, please call Invercargill Police Station on 03 211 0400.  Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
