Investigation continues into unexplained death

Invercargill Police continue with their investigation into the death of  a 37 year old Australian female national who was located deceased after being hit by a car on State Highway One between Bluff and Invercargill at approximately 12:50am, on the morning of the 26th of October 2015.

Examinations of a number of vehicles and other locations of interest are continuing and Police are being assisted by ESR.

A post mortem examination has been carried out.

Police would like to thank the public for their co-operation to date with the long road closures and delays that occurred and also for the people who have come forward with sightings.

Police are asking for all people who travelled between Invercargill and Bluff between 9pm on Sunday, the 25th of October and 12:50am, on Monday morning, the 26th of October 2015, to contact them on 03 211 0400.

The identity of the deceased will not be released at this stage.
