Man charged following New Plymouth assault

A 55-year-old man will appear in court next week in relation to an assault in New Plymouth.

About 4.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 June) two men were struck with a baseball bat outside the Mill Liquor Save on Powderham Street. 

Both received significant injuries.

Police responded quickly and a man was arrested a short distance away. He has been remanded in custody to appear in New Plymouth District Court on Thursday 14 June on two counts of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
