Man charged in relation to fatal Christchurch crash

Attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnson, Christchurch CIB: 
 
A 19-year-old man has been charged in relation to a crash on Gloucester Street, Christchurch on Friday 16 November. 
 
An 18-year-old Christchurch woman died in the crash. 
 
The man has been charged with manslaughter, failing to stop or ascertain injury, failing to stop for police, and three counts of recklessly causing injury. 
 
He will appear in Christchurch District Court this morning. 
 
After two fatal crashes in the city on Friday, Police would like to reiterate our plea to drivers and passengers to buckle up and drive safely - being properly restrained significantly reduces your chance of death or serious injury in a crash. 
 
As this case is now before the Court, Police are unable to make any further comment at this time.
