Man critical after incident in Grey Lynn, Auckland

Attributable to Detective Sergeant Martin Friend, Auckland City Police:

One person is in a critical condition after an attempted robbery at a dairy in Grey Lynn, Auckland this evening.

Police and ambulance were called to the scene on Great North Road, just south of Williamson Ave, around 7:15pm to reports two people were injured.

Two male offenders have entered the store, one of whom had a knife, and have become involved in a physical altercation behind the counter.

The offenders have then run off towards Tuarangi Road.

One person, a male, inside the store received stab wounds, and is in a critical condition in hospital.

A second person received a wound to their stomach and head, and is in a less serious condition.

Police are in attendance and have begun a scene examination. It’s unclear at this stage if anything was taken from the store.
