Missing kayaker found safe and well

Police are very pleased to report that the kayaker reported missing in the Kaituna River yesterday evening has this morning been located safe and well. 
 
The kayaker was found by a search team at 6.30am.   
 
The kayaker exited the river yesterday after realising he wouldn't be able to make his way out of Gnarly Gorge in the water.  He climbed up the bank, and tied himself to a tree to await rescue. 
 
Police would like to acknowledge the actions of the kayaker, who did all the right things when he found himself in trouble in the water. 
 
We would also like to thank members of the rafting and kayaking community who assisted with the search.
