Name release of body found near Kawau Island on Saturday

Rodney Police can now confirm that the body found near Kawau Island on Saturday has been formally identified as that of missing Warkworth fisherman Nicholas Stubbs.

The 22 year-old failed to return from a fishing trip with his friend Stewart Atutahi on the 15 October 2014.

"Our thoughts are with Mr Stubbs family" says Inspector Mark Fergus, Area Commander, Rodney Police.

The four metre red fibreglass boat that Mr Stubbs and his friend Stewart Atutahi went fishing in has not been found.

Both deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
