Nelson Police investigating aggravated burglary

At approximately 6pm on Sunday 15th July a woman disturbed an intruder in her home on Brook Street, Nelson.

The woman noticed some items in her living room were missing and began to look around when she disturbed a man inside the home.

She was grabbed by the man and punched several times and received a minor laceration from a knife he was carrying.

After a struggle, the offender has run out of the home and onto Brook Street.

The victim received minor injuries and was treated at Nelson Hospital but has since been released. She is being comforted by friends and Police are working closely with her.

A scene examination at the property will be completed this morning.

The intruder was dressed in a black top, black pants and was wearing a dark red scarf or bandana across his face.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen this man or observed any suspicious activity in the Brook area, particularly near the intersection with Robinson Road, yesterday afternoon or evening.
