Ten new Police patrol dog teams are on track for continued success after graduating from their operational training at the New Zealand Police Dog Training Centre today.

They will be working in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Eastern, Central, Wellington, Canterbury and Southern districts.

The dogs include two sets of brothers - Vann and Vink, and South and Shaq and there’s no prizes for guessing who McCaw and Lomu are named after.

It’s hoped Usain will be just as fleet footed as his namesake Usain Bolt, while Tomeke becomes the 15th female operational police dog.
