Nines over

1 min read

The NRL Nines in Auckland concluded this evening with the Police relatively pleased with overall behaviour of the patrons who supported the event.
Five spectators were arrested today and 27 were evicted, similar numbers to the previous day when three were arrested and 27 evicted.

The Police Commander for the event, Inspector Peter Gibson, said that two of the arrests were as a result of pitch invasions and those arrested will face charges under the  Major Event Act 2007.
"While their decision to run on to the pitch was ill-considered, alcohol definitely had a role to play in that decision making process."

He said stadium management and security kept a close watch throughout the day on the alcohol consumption  by patrons and were proactive in limiting the access to bars during the latter part of the event.
