NZDIA conference day 2

1 min read

Attribute to Inspector Peter Thurston, Operation Commander

Police continue to ensure the safety of the public, protestors and delegates in and around the New Zealand Defence Industry Association conference in Palmerston North.

So far today two people have been arrested for disorderly behaviour for climbing on top of buses.

Police would like to acknowledge the two men were arrested without incident, complied with Police instructions and came down from the roofs willingly.

They have been released and given pre-charge warnings.

Police must balance the lawful right to protest and the public’s right to go about their daily business safely. We will respond appropriately to any issues regarding disorder or public safety that may arise.

I would like to remind those taking part in ongoing activity to continue to keep the safety of themselves and others at the forefront of their minds.
