One man dies in fatal Nelson motorcycle crash

Nelson Police attended a fatal motorcycle crash today and wish to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

At approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday 9 November, emergency services were called to the scene of a serious motorcycle crash on Higgs Road, Mapua, west of Nelson.

A motorcycle with two riders on it, both male, collided into a tree.

One man died at the scene and the other man was taken to Nelson Hospital with serious injuries. He is currently receiving treatment.

Higgs Road was closed for a period of time while Police conducted a scene examination.

The investigation into the exact cause is continuing and Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorcycle in the Mapua area on Wednesday 9 November.

It is described as green and blue-coloured and an off-road style motorbike.
