Police can now release the name of the 32 year old male found next to his white Toyota Corolla vehicle on Paekakariki Hill Road yesterday morning as Matthew STEVENS of Lower Hutt.

His family have asked for privacy and have indicated that they will not be providing media interviews at this time.

Detective Inspector Grant Wormald says "Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death and are appealing for anyone who might have had concerns for his welfare in recent times to make contact with the Operation Vintage investigation team. In particular, anyone that may have spoken to or seen Mr Stevens in the last 48 hours."

Paekakariki Hill Road was opened last night around 9.00pm and a scene examination by the Police Specialist Search Group is continuing at the scene which is likely to continue for several days. A post mortem examination will occur this afternoon.

Anyone with information should call 04 381 2000 and ask for the Operation Vintage investigation team. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
