Pedestrian killed - Hunua

Counties Manukau Police is investigating an incident that occurred on Hunua Road, Hunua just before 4am this morning.

A 43 year old man has died at the scene.  His name will not be released until a formal identification process has taken place.

It is understood that the man was lying on the road before he was run over.  The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with Police.

Sergeant Darryll Horn of Papakura Police says Police would like to speak to anyone who has information.

“We are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen the man on Hunua Road between 3am and 4am, or possibly saw something strange that they may not have realised was a person on the road.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police on 09 261 1300 or to provide information anonymously contact the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Cordons that were previously in place on Hunua Road have now been lifted.
