Police appeal for witnesses to sexual violation in Milbrook Reserve

Canterbury Police are appealing for witnesses to a reported assault of a female shortly after 11.30pm on Friday the 6th of February 2015 in Milbrook Reserve. 

The female is understood to have been walking in a westerly direction along Carlton Mill Road after the 'Electric Avenue' concert in North Hagley Park finished.  She entered Milbrook Reserve, beside the Avon River, where Carlton Mill Road becomes Rossall Street.  As she walked through the Reserve a man is reported to have approached her and allegedly sexually violated her.

The man is described as a tanned Caucasian / European, heavy build with a broad chest, in his early 30's, about 1.8 to 1.85 metres tall (5'10" to 6'0") with short dark cropped hair. The man is reported as was wearing long or ¾ length shorts with a belt and a dark coloured (possibly orange T-Shirt).  His hands are described as solid or tough.

The man is understood to have left the scene on foot walking towards Carlton Mill Road.  The man is thought to have been on his own. 

The victim reports seeing a small group, a male and two females, walking ahead of her on the north side of Carlton Mill Road towards Rossall Street before she entered Milbrook Reserve.

Canterbury Police would like to speak with anyone who may have been in the vicinity at the time, may have been in this group of three or who may have seen or may know the identity of the offender.

Police are also keen to identify and speak to the people in the CCTV images.  They are of interest to the inquiry and are not necessarily any of the people described in this media release.
