1 min read

Police have closed part of State Highway 14, Maunu in Whangarei following reports of gun shots in the area early this afternoon.

The road is closed between Ngahere Drive and the intersection of Western Hills Drive (State Highway 1).
Since the gun shots were heard in Willow Place, Maunu police have located a vehicle containing two men and a firearm.
However, they believe there may be an outstanding offender/offenders, so the road will remain closed until all parties involved in the incident are located.

For safety reasons Whangarei Hospital, Horahora Primary School are in lock-down.

Further information will be released once details of the incident become clear.
