1 min read

Attribute to Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Kirsten Norton:

Greymouth Police are investigating after an elderly man was assaulted at his home at around 8.15pm last night, Sunday 19 August.

The victim answered a knock on his door and was assaulted by an unknown man.  That man then entered the house with at least one associate and took several items before leaving.

The victim, who was the only person home at the time, suffered some injuries but did not need to be hospitalised.

Police are currently conducting a scene examination at the house and enquiries will continue today.

We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything in the Marsden Road block of Shakespeare Street to Palmerston Street last night around the time of this incident, or anyone in the area who may have noted suspicious activity around their homes.

We would also like to hear from anyone who may know who was involved in this cowardly attack on a vulnerable member of our community.

If you can help, please call Greymouth Police on 03 768 1600.  Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
