Police investigating after two people hit by car in Motueka

Tasman Police are investigating after two pedestrians were hit by a car in Motueka this morning.

Emergency services were called shortly after 2am to reports of disorder. Further inquiries have determined that two men had been hit by a car on York Street. The men were taken to hospital by helicopter one in a serious condition and remains in hospital and the other with moderate injuries who has since been discharged from hospital. 

York Street is currently closed as Police investigate.

The car believed to be involved in the crash was later found on fire on Old Wharf Road, this vehicle was a green Subaru station wagon. Inquiries are ongoing to locate the driver of the car.

Police would like to speak with any witnesses who haven’t yet come forward and also anyone who noticed a green Subaru station wagon in Motueka in the early hours of this morning.
