Police investigating indecent assaults against teenage girls on buses

A Waitemata Police investigation into two cases of indecent assaults against teenage girls has resulted in a 30 year-old man being charged, however Police would like to hear from anyone who may have information that could assist the enquiry.

Dhaval Kadam of central Auckland has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and made a first appearance in the North Shore District Court on Friday 5 September. He was remanded on bail to reappear in the North Shore District Court on Thursday 4 December.

The charges relate to alleged offending that took place on two separate occasions, as the victims were passengers on Northliner Intercity buses. The first is alleged to have occurred against a 16 year-old girl travelling between central Auckland and Paihia on August 28. The second charge is alleged to have occured the next day, against a 17 year-old who was on a journey between Kerikeri and Whangärei.

The accused has travelled on buses between Auckland City and Kawakawa, Northland, in both August and early September and it is possible that someone may recall seeing him.
