Police investigating injuries

Counties Manukau Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding how a 54 year old man sustained a severe life threatening injury overnight.

The man spent Friday night socialising at a relative’s home on Princes Street, Otahuhu and left the address on foot at around midnight.

It is believed that he was walking home, which is approximately one kilometre from where he had been socialising earlier with family.

He was found unconscious on the footpath by Police at around 3am on Saturday morning outside 4 Church Street, Otahuhu.

He is currently in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital.

He is described as a male Maori aged 54 years and approximately 180cm tall and of medium build.  He was last seen wearing a pink and blue striped long sleeved shirt collared shirt, ¾ length khaki type pants and sneakers.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anyone fitting this description in the Otahuhu/Church Street area between midnight and 3:30am.
