Police are following positive lines of enquiry as the investigation continues into the 1987 murder of Chris Bush in Maramarua.

Mr Bush was shot dead 30 years ago at the Red Fox Tavern just before midnight on Saturday 24th October after two men burst into the premise while he was enjoying a drink with three other staff members.

A team of police officers continue to investigate leads following new information that was received by Police.

Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum says Police have been able to narrow their focus on to a small group of ‘persons of interest’ based on this new information.

“We are confident that we will eventually solve this case and that those responsible for the cruel murder of Chris Bush will be held responsible,” says Detective Inspector Lendrum.

Police also want to thank members of the public who came forward with information following the recent airing of the murder case on Police Ten 7.

“We know there are people out there who know who is responsible for Chris’s murder and we continue to encourage anyone with information to contact Counties Manukau Police on 09 263 2791.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“You may think that your information may not be significant to the case, but it is important for anyone with information to come forward as it could hold vital clues for the police investigation,” says Detective Inspector Lendrum.
