Canterbury Police are now able to name the victim of an industrial incident at Gordons Valley Lime Company, south of Timaru, which occurred at approximately 7.15pm last night (19 March 2015).  He was 43 year old Scott James Baldwin from South Canterbury.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.  Canterbury Police and his employer are supporting the next of kin who are understandably devastated.

Canterbury Police and WorkSafe New Zealand investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson from Scott’s family says “We understand the public interest in our loss but ask the media to respect our request for privacy while we come to terms with life without him.”

A spokesperson from Scott’s employer says “We are all in shock and devastated to have lost Scott from our team.  We ask the media to not contact us while the WorkSafe New Zealand and Police investigations are ongoing.”

Canterbury Police will not be making any further comment at this time.
