Canterbury Police are now able to name those who lost their lives in three fatal crashes that occurred within 48 hours of each other.

They were:  38 year old Aliielua Fesili Salaivao, the male driver and sole occupant of the van which collided with a south-bound car on Durham St on Saturday night (3 October 2015); 44 year old Trish Anne Beets, the female front seat passenger in a car that was struck by a bus at the intersection of Kilmore St and Columbo St on Sunday night (4 October 2015); and 45 year old Steven Charles Skinner, the male front seat passenger of the single vehicle that rolled on SH8 near Lake Pukaki yesterday afternoon (5 October 2015).

Their deaths have been referred to the Coroner.  Canterbury Police and Victim Support are working with the victim’s families at this extremely distressing time.

The two male occupants of the car involved in Saturday’s crash are in a critical condition in hospital and the two female occupants of yesterday’s crash are also in hospital in a stable condition.

Police investigations into the crashes are continuing.
