Police pleased with Controlled Purchase Operation held in Nelson Bays

1 min read

To be attributed to Sergeant Kyle Bruning, Nelson Bays Alcohol Harm Prevention Officer

Nelson Bays Police are pleased with the results of a recent Controlled Purchase Operation targeting both on and off licensed premises in the Nelson and Tasman Areas on Friday 22 and 29 June 2018.

All 48 licensed premises refused to sell alcohol to our 17-year-old volunteers.

The operation was run by Police, District Licencing Agencies and Public Health.

The Controlled Purchase Operations are carried out to check processes and ensure compliance with the law by licensed premises.

There will be further Controlled Purchase Operations held periodically over the coming months and all licenced premises are reminded to be vigilant. A good result for us is when we have no sales made to our volunteers.

Letters will be sent to the 48 premises which refused sales to acknowledge their efforts.
