Police pleased with crowd behaviour at Waitangi

1 min read

Please attribute to Superintendent Russell Le Prou, District Commander, Northland Police.

Police are pleased with the behaviour of people who attended Waitangi celebrations today.

The dawn service was attended by large numbers and police estimate a crowd of approximately 30,000 descended upon the treaty grounds throughout the day.

“Police appreciated the public’s behaviour which was relaxed and harmonious – it was a very family focused celebration of Waitangi,” said Supt Russell Le Prou.

Police dealt with a number of minor matters such as lost property, however there were no serious incidents and no arrests made.
