Police pleased with well-behaved crowds at Christmas in the Park

1 min read

Auckland Police say Christmas in the Park was a resounding success with no significant issues.

“Tens of thousands of people had a wonderful summer evening full of festivities,” Senior Sergeant Tony Miller says.

“Police are very happy with crowd behaviour and the evening was a great opportunity to positively engage with young people and families.

“The fireworks were a particular highlight for young and old.

“The crowd is now making its way out of the venue and utilising Auckland Transport to head home or on to other parts of the city in an orderly fashion.

“Officers have been redeployed from Auckland Domain to the central city to help ensure the night continues to run smoothly.”

Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus was on site throughout the evening, ably supported by Inspectors Davey and Clark.

There were three alcohol-related arrests and two for breach of bail.
