Police seeking family of elderly Chinese lady

1 min read

At around 1.30pm this afternoon, Police located an elderly Chinese lady on the corner of Onewa Road and Sylvan Avenue, Northcote.

She had been seen by members of the public walking on the motorway on-ramp.

The woman is aged in her eighties and has been able to tell officers, through a translator, that she lives nearby, however she can't recall her address and attempts to find her home or family members have been unsuccessful.

The elderly lady, who appears to be in good physical health, has mentioned through the translator that she has a relative who works as a Doctor in Auckland. She speaks the Hokkien dialect.

It is unclear if the lady lives alone, or with her family.

Police would like to obviously ensure her safe return to her home.

She is currently at the North Shore station where officers have been caring for her this afternoon.

She is wearing a floral blouse buttoned up to the neck. The pattern is orange on a black background. She has black trousers and pink croc-type shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waitemata District Command Centre 09 488 9754.
