Police thank public for their patience following two-vehicle crash on McLeans Island Road

Canterbury Police investigations are continuing following a two vehicle crash on McLeans Island Road shortly after 12 noon today (27 February 2015).  Witnesses report that a silver Suzuki Swift rental car was turning right onto McLeans Island Road when it collided with a truck, carrying a trailer, travelling south along McLeans Island Road.

The man driving the car, an overseas visitor from Japan, was taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.  The driver of the truck was not injured.

Diversions were in place for three hours while members of Canterbury Police Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

Police investigations into the crash are ongoing.
