Counties Manukau Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating a crash which occurred at 6:30am on Sunday 28 September.  The driver of the vehicle, a 20 year old local man, subsequently passed away on Wednesday 1 October.

The vehicle was travelling north on Skipton Street, Mangere East, when it crossed the centre line and collided with a wooden power pole outside 48 Skipton Street.  It was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

“Police are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle immediately prior to the crash (early Sunday morning) or at any other time,” says Serious Crash Investigator Constable Bruce Wilson.  “It is a 2001 four-door red Honda Torneo with distinctive white mag wheels.  It would greatly assist with Police enquiries to have some information on where this vehicle had been travelling in the lead up to the crash.”

Police remind drivers to take care on the roads particularly in wet weather and at night.

“All drivers should remember that the road is a dangerous place to be, even if you’re in a familiar area or close to your destination,” says Constable Wilson.

Constable Bruce Wilson can be contacted on 09 215 4864.
