Searches for 5-year-old Jack Dixon have continued throughout today with another low tide search planned for tomorrow morning.
LandSAR volunteers searched along the shoreline of the Base Track throughout this morning while Surf Life Saving personnel searched in and on the water. The search was also joined by members of the Police National Dive Squad. Poor visibility and unsafe conditions didn’t allow them to use their scuba gear but they used snorkel equipment to carry out extensive searches. Police will look for further opportunities to utilise the police divers.
At dusk search volunteers again came together to maximise the search opportunities during the evening low tide.
Unfortunately Jack has still not been located and a further search will be carried out.
Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair: “We have had amazing support from LandSAR and Surf Life Saving personnel. The conditions have been tough and people are getting tired but they remain determined and motivated. We are continually reviewing and re-assessing the search options. The weather, tides and sea conditions have a large say in what can be done at any given time. Jack’s family have said that they just want him home and we will do everything we can to return Jack to his family.”
