Second arrest in Charing Cross death

Police have arrested a second man in relation to the death of 28-year-old Luke Riddell in Charing Cross on Saturday.

The 24-year-old man has been charged with murder. He is expected to appear in Christchurch District Court later today.

The scene examination at Telegraph Road will continue today.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance during this investigation.

We acknowledge the public's concerns regarding this incident and are pleased to be able to bring this matter before the courts.

I would also like to acknowledge the high-calibre work of the skilled investigation team involved in this case.

Our thoughts remain with Mr Riddell’s family and friends. His family has requested privacy at this difficult time.

Police will not be commenting further as the matter is now before the courts.
