Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash on SH 6, south of Haast on the Haast Pass Highway.
The accident occurred about 12.30pm and the 55 year old male rider has died at the scene.
At this stage it is believed that no other vehicles were involved.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution on SH6 and should expect some delays.
This is the second motorcycle death on this stretch of highway this week, after Christchurch man Steven NOTTINGHAM died on Monday just north of Haast.
