Police and emergency services are in attendance at a serious crash on Acacia Bay Road near Taupo.
Two cars have collided around 11:20am today, near the holiday park.
One of the drivers was reported to be trapped for a time, but has since been freed and is in a serious condition.
The occupant of the other vehicle has minor injuries.
The road is blocked and is likely to remain closed for some time.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area or take the alternative route along Poihipi Road.
The Serious Crash Unit will be attending the scene.
