Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on Tekapo-Twizel Road, at the intersection with Mount Cook Road, which happened just after 3pm.
Indications are at this stage that a number of people are seriously injured. Helicopters will be attending.
There are road closures in place which are being signposted. State Highway 8 is closed at Pukaki Dam.
More information will be released when it is available.
