Police are attending a serious crash near Hanmer Springs.
Emergency services were called to the crash where a car has collided with the Percival Bridge on Hanmer Springs Road at 4.08am.
Two people have been taken to Christchurch Hospital via helicopter, one with critical injuries and the other with serious injuries.
The road is closed and diversions are in place at River Road and Jollies Pass Road.
The Serious Crash Unit is attending.
