A Wairoa man in his thirties has died after getting into difficulties while diving earlier today.
At about 10.30am this morning Police and emergency services were advised that a diver had got into trouble at Blacks Reef on the Mahia Peninsula.
The diver was pulled out of the water by diving buddies on to a boat and taken to the nearby boat ramp where they were met by emergency services for first aid.
Sadly he died at the scene.
The man's name will be relased when all next of kin has been advised.
