Sudden death investigation

Auckland City Police are investigating the sudden death of a man who is believed to have been assaulted in Outhwaite Park, Grafton, sometime between 6.30pm and 10.3pm last night.

The man was taken to Auckland Hospital late last night but was pronounced dead a short time later.

One man has been arrested in relation to the death and will appear in the Auckland District Court today charged with assault.

Investigating officers are at Outhwaite Park where a scene examination is being carried out.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hooper says anyone with information about the circumstances leading up to the man's death should contact Auckland City CIB.
