Two divers have died in Hawke’s Bay today

Police attended an incident this afternoon where a diver failed to resurface near the Pourerere Coast.

Police and search and rescue volunteers commenced a search and the diver’s body was found a couple of hours later.

A person who entered the sea to assist with the search, has also passed away. Medical treatment was provided however they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police offer their deepest condolences to the families and friends of these divers.
