Police have arrested two people in relation to a number of coastal and rural burglaries in Northland.
Early on Friday (June 20) morning Police executed two search warrants, one at a Whangärei address and the other at a Maungatapere address.
At these properties Police located some property that had been stolen from coastal and rural addresses and some property believed to have been stolen through other burglaries.
Police also arrested two men aged 38 and 42.
The 42-year-old man is facing burglary, theft, theft ex-car, driving while unlicensed, driving at a dangerous speed and failing to stop. The driving charges relate to an incident on Thursday when Police spotted the man in a vehicle on State Highway 14 near Mangakahia Road. Police chased the vehicle, but lost track of it near Parakao.
The vehicle was located at one of the addresses searched on Friday.
The 38-year-old man is facing four burglary charges and a theft charge.
Both men were remanded in custody and are appearing in the Whangärei District Court again today.
In an effort to locate the owners of the stolen property Police will be putting photos of the property on the Northland Police Facebook page www.facebook.com/NorthlandPolice.
Anyone living in a coastal or rural area between Whangärei and the Bay of Islands and has had their address burgled since January is asked to view the Facebook page to see if their property has been found.
